Our bodies have several ways of showing our age but few are more noticeable than dark circles under our eyes. Treating these droopy, under eye bags is a challenge many of us struggle to overcome.
Today, there is a lot of pressure to look younger, which is why celebrities have a variety of surgeries and procedures costing thousands of dollars just to look and feel more attractive. Dark circles under the eyes are an obvious sign of aging so if you’ve given up trying the latest and greatest products to roll back the years, perhaps you’re interested in some alternative solutions.
Start by changing your few bad habits into better, healthier ones. Strict adherence to developing and practicing healthy habits are essential to any skin care plan. Over time it’s easy to take advantage of our body’s ability to repel harmful substances that enter our system. So just think of your routine as your way of helping your body and skin maximize their potential to be effective for as long as possible. If you strictly adhere to your health routine, your skin will sustain its vibrance well into your best years.
Here is a short list of things you can do on your own or find in your home to incorporate into your daily routine to help reduce the appearance of dark circles under the eyes:
- Grate a cucumber and squeeze juice into a cup. Soak 2 cotton balls in the mixture, then place one over each eye for 15 minutes.
- Follow same process with a potato.
- Be sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night.
- In a bowl mix lemon juice paste, tomato puree, orange lentil flour (masoor dal) and turmeric powder. Apply to dark circles with a qtip, let it sit for 15 minutes, then wash off completely.
- Stay away from bleaches and peels that claim to lighten skin.
- Be certain to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.
- Incorporate fruits and vegetables into your diet.
- Reduce stress by practicing yoga.
- Tap the skin under your eyes lightly with 1 or 2 fingers every morning. It will increase blood flow.
- Avoid scratching your eyes. If necessary, lightly dab with cold water.
- Dip 2 cotton balls in a mixture of rose petals and an ounce of water. Then lightly dab around your eyes.
- Place 2 cold cucumber slices over your eyes.
The cells in our body are sensitive and respond quickly to changes in levels of vitamins and minerals. So try focusing on practicing a healthy diet and if you decide to use a cream or serum to clear dark circles, make sure those products contain natural ingredients.
Trying a few of these will reduce the appearance of dark eye circles and transform your skin into less of an aging, wrinkling state!
