I went through the worst ordeal this past week with my cell phone isurance claim. I will leave my cell phone provider anonymous because I found that most, if not all cellular companies, use the same insurance company anyway. So there’s really no need to specify- your cell phone insurance company may very well be the same as mine. I will also leave anonymous the make of the phone I lost because that will give away the provider too, but I will tell you that it was one of the most expensive smart phones out there ( hence the need for insurance). Get a load of what happened folks….

After being directed by my cellular service provider to file the claim on-line I attempted to answer some identity questions that were so far off I couldn’t believe it. I was being asked about people and place I’ve never known or been to. I was denied my first on-line claim attempt so I called to have a human walk me through the process. Because they claimed they couldn’t properly identify me I was denied again and told that a claims specialist would be contacting me through e-mail or a secondary number I provided, within twenty-four hours. Five days later and still no one has got in touch with me.

This morning I gave the insurance company a fairly emotionally charged follow-up call. To my surprise the first thing the representative told me was that we would be able to have everything squared away by the end of the call. I wondered how, being that before-hand I needed to resolve everything with one of their “claims specialists”. Sure enough, within about seven minutes they figured out who I was and I could get a new phone for that discounted price. The representative assured me that her company was not in the business of taking peoples money or making customers work extra hard to get a service they already pay for. My final words to her? “Sure lady….”.
